The work on show at Agial Art Gallery this month is not finished. It's the work of a sculptor, but it's not sculpture. Although he defines himself as a sculptor, Sleiman chose to earn his living in an unrelated field. He has never been represented by a commercial gallery, Abi Khalil says. Sleiman curated the show himself, Abi Khalil emphasizes. When she first visited the artist's London studio, she says, she found herself walking on top of sketches that were strewn across the floor. The only "structure" in the show is in the gallery's vitrine.Souheil Sleiman's "Just About Touching the Structure," not curated by Amanda Abi Khalil, is on show at Agial Art Gallery in Hamra until Jan. 6 .
