Scenic nostalgia on Vincenti's canvasThe tendency for artists to draw from their memories as a means of romanticizing landscapes is not uncommon. Nestled in Villa Audi's underground showroom, the exhibition is comprised of 38 oil paintings that have been inspired by the artist's visits to cities and urban areas of Italy over the course of five years.Peculiar backstories accompany some of the paintings in the exhibition as well.Like most of the paintings in the exhibition, Vincenti paints the seaside castle from a distance. While the work is likely to evoke a sense of yearning, the decorative nature of Vincenti's paintings may leave something to be desired for viewers who value more conceptually-driven work.
