As Lebanon's galleries throw their last big exhibitions before the slow summer period, which is usually characterized by generic group shows, those loyal to the Beirut Art Fair are already gearing up for the sixth edition this September.Having highlighted the lack of censorship of the arts in Lebanon when compared to prominent regional art fairs held in more conservative countries, they revealed the lineup of new and returning art and design galleries, and the cultural program that aims to add a nonprofit aspect to the commercially driven event.Art Factum Gallery is participating as part of the design section after skipping last year's edition, and newcomer Artspace Hamra has already signed up for a booth.Around 20 international galleries are also set to exhibit, making this edition more balanced that the previous two fairs. Sponsored by BankMed, the fair's main partner, the exhibition will feature work by nine international artists – South Africa's Vivian van Blerk, Cuba's Diego Duvier Del Dago, Italian duo Nadia Antonello and Paolo Ghezzi, France's Elisabeth Caravella, German artist Brigitte Zieger, Poland's Janek Simon, British artist Mat Collishaw and New York-based Serbian performance artist Marina Abramovic. The Beirut Art Fair will run from Sept. 17-20 at BIEL.
