The annex wing of the Hotel Saint Georges is ordinarily inoperative.A Fransabank initiative now in its 11th edition, JABAL has since 1998 sought to provide aspiring and emerging Lebanese artists with the platform to showcase their work to a more elite and professional audience. From more than a hundred submissions, 32 artists were selected to contribute work. The ghost of curatorial practice has drifted into the 2015 edition, this marking the first time organizers have asked artists to submit work under a specific theme: "Visionary Artists". The image has been printed on burned fabric, further obscuring it and making it more intriguing.Another photo of the same title depicts three figures, similarly obscured but apparently female. JABAL has staged a lively collection of work by emerging and aspiring young artists that, for the open-minded, may offer a breath of fresh air to Beirut's cultural scene.
