Bilal Tarabey took first place in PhotoMed's annual photography contest. The contest aims to help expose emerging Lebanese photographers to international attention. Last year's winner, Elsie Haddad, had her work "The Bogota" featured this year at the festival's inauguration at Le Gray hotel. According to organizers, this year the contest saw the number of entrants double, which they claim signifies growing interest in the festival among Lebanon's photographers. This year marks the third year of PhotoMed's Lebanese edition. The festival features the work of many of the best Mediterranean photographers. Photography workshops will also be held during February as part of the festival.
