It may be a pleasant surprise for theatergoers hereabouts to learn that this city has been classed one of the "12 theater cities of the future".This week it has returned to assemble arts and cultural professionals from around the world for Satellite Beirut 2016, which it promises will be "a dynamic international forum".Running Oct. 6-9, the event will host a hundred international and local professionals who will meet to discuss and support freedom of expression within the performing arts sector.Culture Minister Raymond Areiji has confirmed that he would give a speech on freedom of expression on Oct. 6, during which he will address the ministry's work on reforming freedom of expression legislation.As freedom of expression is vital to the arts, IETM invites individuals to fight to maintain the role of art as a critical mirror to society.
