Songwriters Noel and Michelle Keserwany became online celebrities earlier this year, thanks to "Zaffatleh El Tarik," the hot pop music video that went viral. Now they've released a new song through the Lebanese American University's Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World. Titled "In My Hand" ("Bi Ideh"), the new tune takes a comic and playful approach to the challenging issue of women's equality, rights and representation in the region.Keserwany reckons this is the first Arabic-language song to address such issues that targets the region's youth. Keserwany says IWSAW played an active role in inspiring her and her sister to write the song.Keserwany said the campaign isn't about Lebanon achieving Western levels of gender equality.
