Reclusive French artist Henri Barande hid his paintings and sculptures from the world for half a century. Nowadays he's staging a rare exhibition in London, but maintains his hard-fought air of mystery. Barande was in the process of switching to painting, using giant canvasses 2.5 meters high, while destroying or burying many of his previous works.Barande says he does not regret his exposure.After the London show – his first and last in Britain – shuts, Barande warns he will not return to the public eye for another four or five years."Henri Barande" is up at London's Saatchi Gallery through Oct. 31 .
