A yearlong photography competition hosted by the Phoenicia Hotel came to a grand finale, with two tied winners announced at the unveiling of the exhibition. In February 2016, 12 photographers were chosen to take part in a competition where one artist per month would enjoy a complimentary night in a room at Phoenicia. Last week saw the culmination of these efforts as Chady Khalaf, co-owner of photography business Pulse Production and Mamad Mossadegh, a professional portrait and wedding photographer, jointly took first place. The photos were evaluated on the use and quality of content and theme, composition, image quality, use of light, creativity and emotional response.Khalaf shared his sentiments over the phone, saying "I'm more than excited but I wish I was able to be there celebrate with everyone else".While both photos were judged equally worthy of first place, each photographer went about their shooting process in very different ways. Whereas Khalaf planned his vision and had a message he wanted to convey, Mossadegh's photo evolved while shooting and editing. The PheoniciaHotelArtPhoto exhibition will run until March 23 in the hotel's lobby.
