The Boghossian Foundation held its annual award ceremony at the Sursock Museum Wednesday to announce the winners of its Young Lebanese Artists award, as well as the winner of the foundation's new prize for youth literature. This year the awards covered three categories: painting, photography and fashion design.Rania Ghosn received the prize in painting, Maria Kassab in photography and Roni Helou in fashion design.The painting, photography and fashion laureates each received $10,000 and the opportunity to work in Brussels at "Inhabitation," the Villa Empain's artist residence, to be mentored in creating a new project.Mostly shot in black-and-white or sepia tones, Kassab's photography presents contemporary topics in vintage visuals. Collage photography and mixing of images is another feature of her work.Chosen from 107 entries, the award was granted to the best fiction work targeting children of 8 to 12 years, published in Arabic in Lebanon and written/illustrated by Lebanese authors within the last year.
