British artist Tom Young's latest exhibition, which opened Thursday at the St. George Yacht Club Gallery, is a charitable affair. Running through Sept. 30, this brief expo is comprised of 50 paintings drawn from the artist's last five years of work, including a new series depicting interiors from the derelict former Holiday Inn building.Teach a Child was founded in 2011 with the aim of helping underprivileged children across Lebanon attend school and stay in school.Known for painting impressionist Beirut cityscapes and historic buildings in need of renovation, Young describes his practice as architectural activism. The "Holiday Inn" series features 15 works that stemmed from his exploration and work inside the hotel in the summer of 2016 .Another series featured in the exhibition is "Full Circle," 2016, a set of works that evolved from a six-month stay at Villa Paradiso in Gemmayzeh, which is now fully restored and used by the EU.This exhibition isn't the first time Young has worked with children.Tom Young's exhibition runs until Sept. 30, 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the St. George Yacht Club Gallery.
