The Beirut International Platform of Dance opened Wednesday night with "We Women," Spanish dancer and choreographer Sol Pico's exploration of the female condition. The performance assembled four dancers and three musicians (all women) of different cultures, languages and disciplines – each drawing on their tradition to draw a portrait of women's trials. Pico founded her Barcelona-based dance company in 1994 and is known for mixing genres and narratives, often tackling controversial social issues with aim of provoking an audience response. When the other dancer's disapproval was translated into movement, the house seemed less amused.Pico's engaging performance left many questions for the audience while offering few answers.
