"Etel Adnan," Kaelen Wilson-Goldie's biographical art book about the Lebanese-American painter, writer and poet was launched at Sursock Monday night. Now aged 93, Adnan is still creating paintings and exhibiting worldwide, despite going quite unnoticed in her younger-years.Adnan's longing for Beirut often bled into her writing and paintings, which often depict mountainous landscapes and colorful sunsets.Chemali recalled discovering a mysterious painting in storage at Sursock, which was found to be one of Adnan's works. The book is part four of a series by British art book publisher Lund Humphries on contemporary artists, which has previously covered American painter Lois Dodd and will next look at abstract expressionist Stanley Whitney and figurative painter Gillian Carnegie.
