In a first for Lebanon, "The Insult" (Case No. 23), by Lebanese writer-director Ziad Doueiri, was nominated for an Academy Award in the Foreign Language Film category Tuesday afternoon. While Doueiri's movie has not been a contender in any of the industry events that festoon the run up to the Oscars – the Golden Globes, Producers Guild, Screen Actors Guild awards etc. – the Venice award was not the only prize "The Insult" won."The Insult" will compete for the Foreign Language Oscar with four other films – Swedish director Robin Oostlund's "The Square" (Cannes' Palme D'Or winner); "On Body and Soul" (Berlinale Golden Bear winner) by Hungarian writer-director Elidiko Enidi; Russian writer-director Andrey Zvyagintsev's "Loveless" (Cannes' Jury Prize winner); and "A Fantastic Woman" (winner of the Berlinale's Silver Bear for Best Screenplay) by Chile's Sebastian Lelio.
