About an hour and half of traffic to the north of Beirut lies Jbeil, an enchanting, historic region which this summer will once again become a performance hotspot.The Byblos festival committee announced that their five-act-strong 16th edition will run Aug. 1-25 .Tarja Turunen, who became known as the vocalist of metal band Nightwish, will take the stage Aug. 6 .The festival continues Aug. 17 with an evening with Greek vocalist Nana Mouskouri, who's touring her new record "Forever Young". Mouskouri, who this year is celebrating her 60-year-long career, is credited with having recorded 134 albums in16 languages.About 10 minutes north of Byblos' lovely ancient marina, is the town of Amchit, where Zakirat Amchit – the town square's old stone municipality building – hosted the festival's news conference.Jamaican reggae group Inner Circle, who this year are celebrating their 50th anniversary, will open the festival Aug. 23 .Singer-songwriter Wael Kfoury will close the festival's performance program on Aug. 25, followed by this year's motorcade of classic cars, which has become an annual event.
