For the first time, Lebanon will be officially represented at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, with a national pavilion at the Arsenal, one of the event's main exhibition venues. Curated by LAU assistant professor of architecture Hala Younes, in collaboration with the Culture Ministry and the Order of Engineers and Architects, the project is titled "The Place that Remains".
The first Architecture Exhibition took place in 1980, forming an independent section at the Biennale.
Although Lebanese architects have exhibited individually in previous years, either in the arts sections or under the national pavilions of other countries, Lebanon had yet to participate as a national entity in the architecture showcase until this year.
"The Place that Remains" conference will take place at LAU, School of Architecture and Design, Qoreitem, on March 23-24 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The Venice Biennale of Architecture begins May 26 .
