"MonuMental," the latest exhibition by the anonymous Syrian artist Saint Hoax, has popped up at the old City Center Cinema, commonly known at the Egg.The show is presented as the first physical exhibition of the new Plastik Gallery an online gallery created by the people behind the international contemporary art magazine of the same name.Climbing the stairs to the inside of the Egg, the gutted cinema theater has been set up with boards to display the paintings and three lenticulars.Saint Hoax sees the infiltration of American pop culture as a worldwide phenomenon, which is why he has focused on international figures, rather than more regional figures.Plastik Gallery intends to keep staging physical exhibitions both here and abroad, but felt that Beirut was the right place to launch the artistic platform."MonuMental," is on display at the City Center Cinema, Downtown, until Oct. 14, noon till 8 p.m.
