The goal of Wickerpark, festival founder Georges Junior Daou told The Daily Star, is to support artists by giving them an industry-standard venue to showcase their work and allow people to discover and enjoy new music.Festival central is Daou's family house. Wickerpark is a nonprofit festival, Daou said. There's much more to Wickerpark than a good lineup and a prime location, said Pascal Semerdjian, the drummer for Postcards – the indie pop rockers who played the festival for the third time this year. Among the better-known performers debuting at Wickerpark this year was Lebanese rapper El Rass.Describing his rap as "heavy," El Rass said he was aware that some at the festival were new to his music. The band members have been coming to the festival since its launch but this was the first year GIZZMO was part of the lineup.
