The Home Workspace Program of Ashkal Alwan (the Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts) has just wrapped its eighth year.year, a dozen artists from a wide variety of artistic backgrounds and as far afield as Palestine and Cyprus participated in the program. The show opened Wednesday evening with all 12 artists displaying or performing their projects and works in progress.Though the works do not explicitly share a common theme and were all produced by various means on assorted media -- from plastic art to short film to theater and dance -- similar messages emerged as each artist used the Ashkal Alwan space to discover a bit of themselves, both personally and artistically. Ashkal Alwan's wide-open floor plan provides ample space for each artist to display their respective works as a collaborative unit.
