Madonna's on-stage fall at the Brit Awards unleashed a wave of Internet jokes about the star's cape malfunction Thursday, overshadowing wins for British singers Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran.Smith won the British breakthrough act and global success awards, capping a trophy-filled month after he won song of the year at the Grammys for "Stay With Me".Sheeran went home with the awards for best British male solo artist and album of the year for "X". The awards show kicked off with a rendition of "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift, who won the international female solo artist award.Veteran "man band" Take That also performed live, as did rockers Royal Blood, who won the best British group award.
