U.S. stocks rose Thursday, with the Standard & Poor's 500 Index near a record, as better-than-forecast earnings from Apple Inc. and Facebook Inc. boosted technology shares.The Nasdaq 100 Index, which includes Apple, climbed 1.1 percent.Benchmark indexes briefly erased gains that had been building prior to the official opening of U.S. exchanges just after trading began, with selling strongest in the technology-heavy Nasdaq 100 .It fell 0.2 percent Wednesday, snapping a six-day rally that was the longest since September, and trades at 17 times reported earnings, near its highest valuation in four years.
