The ruble hit 70.16 versus the greenback, taking its year-to-date losses to 19 percent.The central bank is set to meet on interest rates Friday, and the bank's Gov. Elvira Nabiullina has said the two options were to hold the key rate at 7.25 percent or raise it.As of 07:22 GMT, the ruble had pared some losses and was little changed on the day at 69.92 versus the dollar and was 0.1 percent stronger at 80.70 against the euro.The dollar-denominated RTS index added 0.05 percent to 1,051.1, while the ruble-based MOEX index was 0.4 percent higher at 2,331.5 points.
