BEIRUT: The
complicated local political situation is weighing heavily on the
commercial sector in Lebanon, said Zuhair Itani, head of Hamra’s
merchants association.
“Hamra shops are suffering from a very low sales
turnover rate due to the absence of a government which is having a very
bad impact on consumers’ sentiments,” he said. Itani called upon
Lebanese officials to speed up the formation of the government to avoid a
further plunge in sales.
He added that the association is following up
closely on the developments to be able to take the necessary measures
when needed.
