BEIRUT: The history of Lebanon’s advertising and communication industry was the focus of a book released Wednesday by the International Advertising Association Lebanon Chapter, detailing changes that marked the industry during the past 50 years.

Entitled “Lebanon communication – 50 years of history and achievements,” the book recalls five decades of the developing advertising industry since the inception of the IAA Lebanon in 1961 to become part of the IAA Global based in New York.

Confronted with endless challenges through times of war and peace, the 232-page book is a testimony of the resilience of members of the Lebanese advertising industry who found creative ways to crown the sector with success.

A hundred and 16 professionals of the advertising industry from the Lebanon chapter were elected as individual members and four as worldwide presidents of the IAA Global, which aims at defending and advocating the advertising role, as well as supporting freedom of speech.

The book was published by NMS under the direction of veteran communication executive Nadim Zahar, and written and edited by Rosemary Abdallah.
