BEIRUT: Al-Bayan magazine said in its latest survey of the Lebanese insurance market that total non-life premiums generated by insurance companies in Lebanon rose by a 6.8 percent to reach a total of $928.6 million in 2012 versus $869.6 million in 2011.
This growth rate is lower than that registered in each of the years 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008, which posted respective yearly non-life premium increases of 7.5 percent, 12.3 percent, 21.9 percent and 22.4 percent.
According to the same source, the share of the top 10 insurance companies in the total non-life premiums in the sector reached 64.6 percent last year. Medgulf sustained its top-place ranking in 2012 with a total of $100.8 million in non-life premiums.
