BEIRUT: Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hasan highlighted Monday the importance of supporting small and medium enterprises in Lebanon with the aim of securing job opportunities for the Lebanese.
“It is important to provide Lebanese with stability through the establishment of new agro-food industries and by supporting the already existent ones in the Bekaa,” he said.
“This can also be achieved by supporting shoes manufacturing in the southern suburbs, Burj Hammoud and the south in addition to supporting the furniture industry in Tripoli and Sidon.”
Hajj Hasan’s remarks came during his meeting with Ross Mountain, deputy representative of the secretary-general of the United Nations and resident representative of the UNDP in Lebanon.
The meeting was aimed at discussing the activation of international aid to Lebanon to face the repercussions of the Syrian crisis and ease the growing burden on the Lebanese economy.
