Lebanon will only join the World Trade Organization if negotiations prove that it is in the interests of the country's economy, Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hasan said.Hajj Hasan said he has discussed his concerns with the WTO delegation and Lebanon is currently studying the possibility of joining the organization. Hajj Hasan said Lebanese officials must impose customs on foreign products entering the Lebanese market to protect the country's industrial sectors.Some Lebanese officials have argued that membership would hurt the country's economy more than it would help.
