Lebanese citizens should play a vital role in supervising the bidding and legislation phase of oil exploration in Lebanon to ensure transparent management and good governance in the sector, industry experts said at a conference at La Sagesse University Thursday.Maalouf explained that a clear vision would specify the proper way of dealing with revenues generated by this sector.Haytayan cited a new mobile app from the Samir Kassir Foundation that allows citizens to send their questions to oil and gas experts.Likewise, Walid Nasr, board member of the Lebanese Petroleum Administration, said that it is currently possible to work on the legal framework for this sector even though two decrees necessary for exploration have not yet been passed by the Cabinet.Nasr said that good steps have already been taken to ensure a transparent performance of the sector.He explained that conditions that would allow companies to participate in licensing rounds for oil and gas exploration have been published on LPA's website.
