Lebanon's country risk and the presence of Hezbollah prompts U.S and international correspondent banks to carefully verify most financial transactions from the country, the secretary-general of the Union of Arab Banks said Wednesday.Fattouh, who held talks with leading American banks in New York and Washington few days ago, said the U.S. perspective toward Lebanon would not "unfortunately" change as long as these factors exist.Fattouh noticed that some leading American banks seem more understanding about the situation in Lebanon than other lenders.Fattouh said only one small Lebanese bank is not able to deal with international correspondent bank, but noted that the bank would solve this matter after the appointment of a new board of directors.He disclosed that Lebanese banks are better off than many lenders in the Arab world when it comes to dealing with international correspondent banks.
