Lebanese women have yet to play a bigger role in business and economic fields – which are still dominated by men – speakers at the New Arab Women Forum said Wednesday.Doumit said that participation by Lebanese women in the country's economic arena stood at only 26 percent in 2015 while their participation in Parliament was at just 3 percent and nearly nonexistent in the Cabinet with just one minister.Culture Minister Raymond Areiji reiterated Doumit's remarks by saying that Lebanese women should play a bigger role in the public field.Sehnaoui cited a study by McKinsey Global Institute stating that there could be an increase in annual global GDP by 26 percent in the coming 10 years if women's participation equals men's in the economy.Sehnaoui added that loans given to women running SMEs in 2015 increased by 48 percent.
