Wozniak brings message of innovationDuring his speech at the BDL Accelerate Conference at Forum de Beyrouth Friday, Steve Wozniak – one of the founders of Apple – encouraged young Lebanese entrepreneurs to pursue careers in tech and business.Nadim Zaazaa, Lebanon director at the U.K. Lebanon Tech Hub – a joint venture between the Lebanese and British governments designed to foster technological and business innovation in Lebanon – explained that Lebanon's tech sector is expanding rapidly. With new funding available from banks following a recent initiative, Zaazaa explained, local companies have been able to expand in ways they never could before. Nevertheless, he emphasized that there are still significant challenges faced by the industry within Lebanon. As a result, the U.K. Lebanon Tech hub has focused on helping new companies expand beyond the country's borders while simultaneously maintaining a physical, financial and human presence in Lebanon. Nevertheless, the importance of internationalizing the local tech industry, Zaher explained, has allowed Lebanon to position itself at the forefront of regional development.
