BEIRUT: Lebanon must urgently elect a president to avoid further deterioration to the economy, said Prime Minister Tammam Salam during the launch of "Lebanon's resurrection: toward development," a book written by Roger Nasnas, president of the Lebanese Economic and Social Council.The book aims to cover the challenges facing Lebanon while providing a complete economic and social vision to highlight solutions that should be adopted by officials, unions, representatives of economic sectors and every citizen mainly the youths to save the local economy."Lebanon enjoys preferential advantages that would contribute to the success of any positive political measure or step," he said.He noted that Lebanon enjoys security, stability and a successful banking sector. Salam also praised Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil for maintaining stable public finances in the midst of the complicated economic situation.Adnan Kassar, president of the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce, echoed Choucair by saying that Lebanon cannot stay paralyzed without a president.
