Five leading bakeries control most of the market share in Lebanon due to their long-term expansion strategy, according to a BLOMINVEST survey.The report said that top bakeries serve two types of clientele.As for the regular Lebanese bread, the survey noted that the general consensus is that Chamsine is the leader in producing of this type of bread.According to the bakery owners union, Lebanon consistently consumes approximately 20,000 to 22,000 tons of flour per month, with every ton of flour making 1,070 bread bags. In 2012, Lebanon produced 785,000 bags of bread a day, almost 23.5 million a month.Unlike other businesses in Lebanon, the market sources unanimously agreed that foreign competition is almost nonexistent.
