Lebanon's caretaker tourism minister said Monday that the country is on its way to regaining its reputation as the main tourist destination in the Middle East.Guidanian went as far as to say that "this conference is the starting point for Lebanon to become the main touristic destination once again in the Middle East with all appreciation for the other touristic destinations in the region".Visibly frustrated with what he called the "completely wrong image" shown by the media about Lebanon's security and political instability, he thanked all delegates for not being deterred and attending the conference anyway. Hout did, however, stress that if Lebanon wants to regain its status as the No. 1 tourist hub in the region, the government should invest more in infrastructure, such as roads and electricity, and create a tax system that incentivizes private investors.
