Lebanese scaleups should focus on fine-tuning rather than financing: experts

(The Daily Star/Hasan Shaaban)

This article was amended on Monday, February 04 2019

In a previous version of this article, The Daily Star erroneously implied (in the headline and lead) that Liz Wald said Lebanese scaleups should focus on their local market rather than attracting investors in larger markets. Her words were taken out of context, as she meant that the advice to focus on the local market (through funding, innovation and determining unique selling propositions) was actually meant to increase the likelihood of attracting buyers in foreign markets.  The corrected article reflects this distinction.

Furthermore, Christina Chehade was misquoted about Endeavor Lebanon having shifted their focus to scaleups (rather than startups).

Endeavor Lebanon has always supported scaleups.

The Daily Star regrets these errors.
