Officials across much of the Muslim world said Thursday that the upcoming big-budget Hollywood film "Noah" featuring Russell Crowe as the ark-building prophet will not be shown because it could offend local viewers. The director of media content at the National Media Center in the United Arab Emirates, Juma al-Leem, told the Associated Press that the movie would not be allowed in local cinemas because it contradicted a generally held taboo in Islam of depicting a prophet. Officials in other Muslim majority countries said censors probably would not approve the movie.Lebanon's General Security is currently reviewing the film. There are many children's films and cartoons created that tell the story of Noah in Islam without showing his face. One theater in the Palestinian West Bank says it has ordered the film.
