VOX opens boutique theater for gamers, parties and private showings

VOX offers a variety of cinema experiences, like a VIP theater and a new rentable cinema.

BEIRUT: Forget the life-size, flat-screen video game experience, VOX Cinemas will do you one better. The 15-screen complex at City Centre in Hazmieh has added a new wing that can be rented out for private screenings, corporate events and perhaps the most unique experience of all: big-screen gaming. The rentable wing, called myVOX, contains a 40-seat theater plus a lounge for pre- or postshow functions. VOX is targeting a range of potential clients: from children celebrating a birthday to businesses with something more engaging than a PowerPoint presentation.

VOX also has teamed up with PlayStation to offer gamers of all ages a rentable space and equipment to hold competitions. This option has already attracted people keen to battle it out in larger-than-life dimensions, said a representative from Think Luxe, the public relations company promoting myVOX.

City Centre’s theater complex houses a variety of services, such as a VIP cinema and refreshments, including crepes, sandwiches and gelato.

VOX cinemas are also offering catering packages for events. VOX supplies party staples such as cake for birthdays alongside the more traditional theater fare.

MyVOX is also promoting themed boxes for children’s parties and customized pre-movie messages for the birthday girl or boy.

Renters can view a movie of their choosing, provided it’s not too obscure to be found, with VOX handling obtaining the rights to screen it. VOX can also screen private showings of current blockbusters.

VOX hopes to tap into the local love of unique, luxury functions and provide an alternative to holding events at a restaurant, the Think Luxe representative said. Prices to rent out the space start around $220 for matinee times.
