BEIRUT: White, white and more white: LIPS Summer Fashion Week broke out the couture wedding dresses Thursday night.

This is the third installment of LIPS’ seasonal runway shows, which have featured a mixture of independent local designers and local shops selling international brand names. After sunset at the St. Georges Yacht Club Thursday, Lebanese designer Walid Shehab offered a change of pace, switching out swimwear for floor-length evening gowns and lacy lingerie for rigid hoopskirts.

Beaded bodices, feather detail and sparkling tiaras decorated meters of white and ivory tulle and silk, offering a preview of the wedding season to come.

And it wasn’t just the models in white. Show-goers, from Italian Embassy staff to casually dressed photographers, broke out beach-ready leather bags, eyelet sun dresses and towering heels in pearly shades.
