I think I can safely say crossover SUVs have taken over a very big slice of the market in recent years, while SUVs with three rows of seats, or seven-seaters, have taken over a large part of that segment. The problem is that with the segment being so crowded, cars like the relatively discreet Mazda CX-9 often get lost in that shuffle.Part of that reason is that this is, in fact, the ninth model year for this SUV without a major redesign except for a 2013 refresh, and that's crazy old for any car. While the CX-9's platform and big 3.7-liter V-6 engine, the only six-cylinder mill in Mazda's lineup, are sourced from Ford, the car's design is completely unique, and with the 2013 refresh, it became more so.The car, though nearly a decade old, still looks pretty smart, and though you wouldn't guess it from just looking at the CX-9, it's actually longer than most of its competitors by as much as 25 centimeters.
