Both share a number of similar traits: their dual front disc brakes with ABS standard on the Low Rider S and an option on the Roadster, electronic fuel injection, keyless ignition, and their stubborn insistence to keep their lines on the road despite the sometimes nasty winds that would have otherwise disrupted our ride. But their distinctive characters are immediately recognized once you saddle up, starting from the 100mm higher-seating position on the Roadster, to the significantly more brute power, acceleration and torque of the Low Rider S. By contrast, the dials on the Low Rider S are located on the gas tank – a tribute to the original 1977 Low Rider FXS – but which proved impractical. While I did handle the Roadster with a new sense of confidence on the second day, I still lacked that comfort and ease I had with the Low Rider S. The larger, more torquey bike provided a peace of mind and sense of dominance over the road that I didn't feel with the Roadster. The base price for the 2016 Low Rider S was set at $16,699, and the 2016 Roadster at $11,199 .
