Let me cite as an example a small article that came across my desk a while back about how Chinese cars saw greater growth in Lebanon than brands from all other countries combined – a whopping 600 percent! What the article failed to mention was that 14 cars had been sold that year as opposed to two a year earlier. There were around 52,000 new vehicles registered in Norway in 2016, and 29 percent of those are EVS, meaning 15,000 electric vehicles were sold altogether that year in a country with more than 2.6 million registered vehicles.Everyone else who buys electric cars is motivated by one, or more, of three factors: the subsidies and tax advantages granted by major countries, free charging stations and perceived savings on fuel, or the glamour of electric or hybrid supercars such as the Porsche Mission E and 918 Spyder, the BMW i8, the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1, the Rimac Concept One and the NextEv NIO EP9 among others.If you really want to save the planet, drive smaller cars with smaller engines.
