MB 190E 2.5-16 Evo II: From humble beginnings to legendary statusI'm still feeling nostalgic for the days when the car industry kept us enthralled and wondering what new marvelous machine they would come up with next. What was even more amazing is that in many cases these "specials" started out as regular cars that hardly stood out from the crowd, a case in point being the 1980s Mercedes-Benz 190E, later replaced by the C-Class.Unfortunately, in its first foray into the DTM in 1989, Mercedes was handily beaten by the BMW M3 and Ford Sierra Cosworth, and again it went back to work, and in 1990 the Geneva Auto Show saw the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II Cosworth (I realize that's quite the mouthful.All that and it got beaten again by an Audi and a BMW M3 Sport Evolution.
