This week's pick probably raises more questions about us than it does about the car itself. I'm talking, of course, about the BMW '02 Series. That's right, THAT car, the one people associate with "riffraff" and wouldn't be caught dead sitting in, let alone driving. BMW's more recent 2-Series is actually the direct descendant of 2002 and its popularity stems from the fact that it emphasizes the kind of handling that made the older car a joy to drive.Like most cars even at the time, the 2002 had variants. The standard model featured a very durable single-overhead-cam four-cylinder mill that could travel well over 300,000 kilometers before requiring a rebuild. That "riffraff" you sold your car to is driving a Bimmer that could potentially be worth as much as a brand new Porsche 718 Boxster S, and he probably doesn't even know it.
