If you're at all intimidated by the thought of performing choreography in front of strangers, you should probably try Zumba for the first time in a gym setting, and not, as I did, slightly drunk at a pool party in broad daylight.Zumba is a truly global fitness craze, not only in scope (according to its website, Zumba is offered in 200,000 locations across 180 countries) but in influence as well, combining Latin-based step aerobics with elements of hip-hop, Arabic and Indian Bhangra. By the second session, which kicked off after dark around 8, the Zumba crowd had swelled to about 30, the pool had emptied out and the dance party was properly underway. While I may not have been able to completely cut loose, I would definitely give Zumba another try in a more private setting.
