La Magnanerie, a restored 19th-century silk factory in Metn's Sadd-Boushrieh, glittered under fireworks Thursday night as the second graduating class of a fashion school established by world-renowned Lebanese designer Elie Saab displayed their collections.Collections at the "New Wave" fashion show sought to reflect social and political issues in Lebanese society, such as the garbage crisis. The program was established in 2013 in collaboration with Saab and the London College of Fashion.Saab, an honorary chair of the program, said his vision was to offer Lebanese students the chance to study fashion design at international standards, in hopes that Beirut becomes a hub for the art.Joseph Jabra, the president of LAU, congratulated the class of 2018 in fashion design.
