Souraya's credo may be "the fashion democracy," but slipping into one of its sequined, feathered gowns is not for the faint of heart. With pieces ranging from $250 to $850, the line features statement evening wear at accessible prices. Chalhoub characterized it as a cross between fast fashion and haute couture that allows every girl to have her very own "Cinderella moment". "People come and they really receive the sort of treatment they would buying couture -- we take care of them, have them try on whatever they want," she told The Daily Star. The self-taught designer said she started sketching Souraya's initial collection after growing frustrated with what she considered the unnecessary expense of high fashion.
