In the crowded compact car segment, the Mazda 3 is definitely one of the offerings that stand out from among their peers.More importantly, as attractive as the 3 may be thanks to the styling and design, what really makes it stand out from other compact cars is its long front end and "cab-back" design, which adopts Mazda's Kodo "soul of motion" design expression that was first introduced on the CX-5 compact SUV and the Mazda 6 sedan a couple of years back.Fortunately, the Mazda 3's exceptional styling is matched by two equally attractive, smooth and responsive engine options. Reduced stopping distances, thanks to four-wheel discs, also place the Mazda 3 among the best in its segment, while a very nicely weighted electric power steering replaces the former electrohydraulic system.Inside, the Mazda 3 features a redesigned cockpit that is more driver-focused, placing pedals and controls more symmetrically around the driver. In the end it all comes down to preferences, but if fun, styling, safety and fuel economy rank high in your list of criteria when buying a new car in this class segment, the Mazda 3 is a hard car to beat.
