BEIRUT: Searches conducted by French Police in Paris have so far been fruitless in the hunt for a Canadian porn actor wanted for the murder and dismemberment of his lover, the BBC reported Monday.
French media reported that police were unsure whether Canadian national Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, is still in the Paris region.
Magnotta’s mobile phone was traced to two Paris districts and it is believed he travelled to France from Montreal – the scene of his crime – a week ago.
Police found items belonging to the fugitive in a hotel room in the eastern suburb of Bagnolet.
Interpol has issued a Red Notice wanted-persons alert for Magnotta, who also goes by the names Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov.
Magnotta stands accused of murdering and dismembering Jun Lin, a 33-year-old student from China’s Hubei province who had been studying at Montreal’s Concordia University since July 2011.
On Tuesday a foot was posted to the Canadian Conservative Party’s offices, and police intercepted a second parcel, containing a hand, addressed to the country’s Liberal Party’s headquarters. A headless torso was discovered at Magnotta’s Montreal flat.
Media reports have linked Magnotta, who reportedly worked as a bisexual porn actor and model to a video posted online in 2010 showing kittens being suffocated in a plastic bag and another of a kitten being fed to a snake.
