AUSTIN, Texas: George P. Bush is officially running for office in Texas - ending months of speculation about what post the grandson of one former U.S. president and nephew of another planned to seek.
Spokesman Trey Newton told The Associated Press that Bush filed the official paperwork Tuesday to run for land commissioner, a popular stepping stone to higher office.
An attorney and Spanish speaker whose mother is originally from Mexico, Bush is considered a rising star among conservative Hispanics.
Bush is the nephew of George W. Bush and grandson of George H.W. Bush.
