KIEV: Some 70,000 protesters gathered Sunday on central Kiev's Independence Square to rally against embattled President Viktor Yanukovych, AFP journalists estimated, as Ukraine's political crisis showed little sign of ending.

The number of people who turned out for the demonstration roughly equalled that of last weekend, but was markedly lower than at the end of January, when protests degenerated into violence that left several people dead.70,000 gather in Kiev for new anti-Yanukovych protest: AFP
